Doug is an attorney and angel investor who assists early-stage and high-growth companies. He is an advisor to the Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management. Doug is also a member of the Irish Angels, a 200-member national angel investor network that works with the Gigot Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Notre Dame to fund and support entrepreneurial companies. In his practice, Doug represents start-up and emerging companies in organizational, venture finance, compliance, governance and contractual matters. His clients operate in a variety of industries including medical device, healthcare, software, biosciences, cleantech and manufacturing. He has served as a director or officer of numerous early stage ventures, and routinely works closely with management on corporate financing and strategic issues and often assists growing companies identify financing sources and build management teams. Doug received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame, magna cum laude, majoring in finance/business economics, and his law degree from the UCLA School of Law. He practiced law for several years in San Francisco, California, where he represented high technology and other privately- and publicly-held companies. He also serves as the Chair of the Advisory Council for Youth Venture Minnesota, a non-profit organization that promotes entrepreneurship and social ventures among youth.
